Snowplaza readers have voted the top 10 ski resort in the Alps in 2018

Snowplaza, the largest ski resort test portal in the world, recently carried out a survey asking participants to name their top 20 ski resorts in the Alps in 2018. Amongst the clear favourites are ski resorts in France and Austria who seem to dominate the European ski market. Another country always featuring in the top 10 is Italy, with the beautiful Dolomites region. If you are wondering where to to go for one of your next single parent ski holidays, have a look at our countdown of the top 10 ski resorts in the Alps in 2018:

10. Sölden

Sölden in the Ötz valley of Austria has some of the best lift networks in the world and guaranteed snow due to its altitudes of up to 3,340 m. The region also offers amazing ski touring for all touring fans.

9. Ski circuit Saalbach-Hinterglemm

Saalbach-Hinterglemm in Salzburg, Austria, is one of the best ski resorts in the world for beginners and intermediate skiers, and (in)famous for its legendary après-ski parties, which, they say, can be heard several valleys away.

8. Arlberg

Arlberg in Tirol, Austria with the famous ski resorts of St. Anton, Lech and Zürs, which have been connected and offers 300 km of runs for passionate skiers and snowboarders. We are surprised that Arlberg has only been voted number 8, as it usually is amongst the top 5

7. Ischgl-Samnaun-Silvretta

Ischgl is one of the most popular ski resorts in Austria. This place has got it all: great snow conditions, a versatile ski region for all levels of skiers and boarders, first class restaurants, brilliant après-ski… and we could go on! There’s definitely a reason why Ischgl keeps turning up in the top 10.

6. Mayrhofen

Mayrhofen in Tirol is famous for its après-ski bars and great range of pistes for all levels of skiers and boarders, including the scary Harakiri piste with its 78% gradient. Mayrhofen also hosts the annual Snowbombing music festival, which is one of the biggest music festivals in the Alps.

5. Paradiski

Paradiski in the heart of the French Alps consists of several villages. The most famous ones are La Plagne and Les Arcs. Three glaciers offer guaranteed snow and over 425 km of pistes for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.

4. Les Portes du Soleil

Les Portes du Soleil connects France with Switzerland, and is  one of the largest ski regions in the world, with 600 km of pistes. Those seeking that extra thrill, can try heli-skiing on the Swiss side.

3. Tignes – Val d’Isère

Located in the Savoie Alps in France, Tignes offers 300km of well-prepared pistes and some great off-piste skiing.Val d’Isère is also well known for the La Folie Douce, the biggest on-mountain après-ski bar in France.

2. Val Gardena

Val Gardena in Italy, with the breathtaking-beautiful Dolomites looming large in the background, offers quite unparalleled skiing for all levels of ability. The region is also well-known for its great choice of cross-country skiing and unique Italian flair.

1. Les Trois Vallées

Les Trois Vallées in the French Alps is this year’s best ski resort in the Alps, and rightly so. It’s a great space: 8 ski resorts sharing 600 km of pistes with great snow conditions until May. Most famous of them are Courchevel and Méribel. This skiing region is so vast that the pistes never feel crowded.
