Single parent ski holiday in Austria

We will be staying at the lovely family run 4-star hotel Alpenschlössl at the heart of Alpendorf in Austria. Our hotel is ideally located for a single parent ski holiday as it is a mere 2-minute walk from the cable car station, the starting point of the large Alpendorf/Wagrain/Flachau ski carousel. Our hotel has received the HolidayCheck 2016 Award with a 100% recommendation. It is furnished in traditional Alpine style, with a panorama restaurant with view of the surrounding mountains, a beautiful sun terrace, and cosy hotel bar and lounge area to enjoy a drink or two after dinner.

Our single parents can enjoy an indoor pool and spa area with a range of different types of sauna, spa treatments and a relaxation room to unwind after a busy day on the slopes. For our younger guests there is a kids room with a range of toys supervised by a qualified child minder from 3.00 to 9.00 pm to enable our parents to relax while the children are entertained.

All rooms are furnished in traditional Alpine style featuring flat-screen TV, telephone, free Wi-Fi and safety deposit box, and come with an en-suite bathroom with hairdryer, bathrobe and spa basket with towels to be used in the spa and pool area. Breakfast is served in the form of a lavish buffet, while dinner is a 5-course meal with vegetarian options and kids’ menu, using mainly local produce partly sourced from an organic farm nearby.

Programme

Skiing/snowboarding:

Alpendorf is the starting point of the Alpendorf/Wagrain/Flachau ski carousel with 120 km of blue, red and black pistes for all levels of skiers and boarders. The cable car to connect you to the ski carousel is nearly opposite the hotel and you can ski all the way back to the hotel at the end of your day on the piste. No shuttling required!

For any of you who are new to skiing or want to improve their skills, Austria’s ski schools are renowned for their qualified instructors, who will teach you and/or your children the necessary skills so that you will want to return year after year.

Other activities on offer:

We will also be offering other fun winter activities to complement your single parent skiing holiday. Save your energy for a fun toboggan run, enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride through the picturesque countryside, try out cross-country skiing or snowshoe hikes in the mountains, have fun at an ice-curling competition, or test your ice-skating skills at an ice disco in nearby St Johann. And if you would rather just relax after a day on the slopes, there is the hotel’s pool and spa area to unwind, or an evening out at a thermal spa nearby, complete with adventure pool, wave machine, slides, several saunas and much more.

About Alpendorf

Alpendorf, in the heart of the province of Salzburg, is a small, picturesque holiday village, 3 km from St. Johann, the lively town and cultural / shopping centre of the region located on the banks of the river Salzach. Situated 200 m above St. Johann, Alpendorf enjoys a wonderful view over the surrounding area and is the entry point of the Alpendorf/Wagrain/Flachau ski carousel with 44 lifts and 120 km of pistes for all levels of ability.

Our hotel is located nearly opposite the cable car station and within short walking distance of the ski hire shop and ski school registration. Your ski pass will give you access to the entire Ski Amadé region with 270 lifts and 860 km of slopes. With its modern lifts, great choice of runs for all levels of ability and traditional cosy huts on the slopes for a relaxing lunch break or après-ski drink, Alpendorf is a popular destination with skiers from across Europe.

For any of you looking for a broader winter sports experience, there is also a range of other great sports activities on offer in Alpendorf and the surrounding area, including horse-drawn carriage rides through the countryside, cross-country skiing, snowshoe walks, ice-skating and tobogganing in nearby St Johann.

"This was our third SPOH holiday. The hotel was really lovely with a short walk to the gondola which is essential with children on a ski holiday. The rooms were very comfortable and quite spacious with amazing views over the valley. The ski equipment was all ready and organised for us to pick up on the first morning. The group of parents and children were all very friendly and everyone had a fantastic holiday. Despite having a back problem early in the holiday that then prevented me from skiing, my daughter had a great time with the help of her new extended family. We are therefore pleased to announce that, at no extra cost to you, and in accordance with the “The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018” all passengers booking with Single Parents on Holiday Ltd. are fully insured for the initial deposit, and subsequently the balance of monies paid as detailed in your booking confirmation invoice. The policy will also include repatriation if required, arising from the cancellation or curtailment of your travel arrangements due to the insolvency of Single Parents on Holiday Ltd.
