Single Parent Beach Holiday in Crete:

Enjoy a bit of luxury at our family-friendly 5-star Alexander Beach Hotel and Village on Crete, the largest and most scenic of the Greek islands. Located in the village of Stalis, 32 km east of the island’s capital Heraklion, the hotel is a green oasis offering breathtaking views out over the bay of Malia. The hotel has low-rise buildings and bungalows set in lush, subtropical gardens and located at a beautiful private sandy beach where our families can enjoy swimming in the clear blue waters of the Aegean Sea. The hotel’s facilities include several pools, tennis courts, a luxurious spa, kids club with kids pool and water chutes and a games room for teenagers. The perfect backdrop to a relaxing single parent beach holiday.

Rooms are furnished in traditional Cretan style, and offer views of the surrounding gardens, the pools or the sea. All rooms are air-conditioned and come with balcony or terrace, en-suite bathroom with hairdryer, satellite TV, safety deposit box, refrigerator and coffee and tea making facilities (on request).

In the evenings, our single mums and single dads can enjoy a pre-dinner drink on the hotel’s pretty sun terrace where stunning sunsets provide a beautiful place to relax. Dinner is served in the adjoining hotel restaurant. There is plenty of choice for lunches and snacks at the hotel’s own Taverna Kriti, the pool and beach bars and the restaurants and tavernas just outside the hotel. To round off your evening, a daily evening entertainment programme is offered including live music, shows, kids discos and the weekly Greek evening with BBQ.

Programme

Our hotel has a Mini Club for 4 to 12 year olds with organized play, craft making and activities such as trips on the banana boat, treasure hunts, kids shows and much more. There is also a small playground and a kids adventure pool with water games and chutes at the kids club to keep younger children entertained. For older children and teenagers, there is a games room with computer games and table tennis, pool tables and, of course, the daily sports and animation programme including beach volleyball, basketball, water polo. There is also a water sports centre on the hotel’s private beach offering parasailing, water skiing, banana boats, pedalos and more.

The hotel also has a modern, air conditioned fitness centre and a luxurious spa and health centre extending over more than 800 m² with an indoor pool, spa with whirlpool, sauna and steam bath, offering a range of face and body treatments.

For those who want to see more of Crete, we recommend a hike through the world-famous Samaria Gorge in the South of the island or a visit of the ruins of the palace of Knossos built by King Minos. Knossos once presided over a city of 100,000 and flourished between 3,000 and 1,400 BC. We also recommend a boat trip to Spinalonga island with its massive fortifications which date back five centuries to the Venetian occupation. Also worth a visit is Water City, Crete’s biggest water park.

About Crete

Crete is the largest of the Greek islands and combines snow-capped mountains, rolling hills covered with olive trees and over 1,000 km of stunning coastline. The island offers a mix of small fishing villages, remote settlements, large tourist resorts and cities such as Heraklion, inhabited continuously for almost 8,000 years and home to trendy cafés, bars, shops, in amongst a vast array of archaeological treasures. Crete attracts holiday makers from all over Europe due to its rich history, pleasant Mediterranean climate, long sandy beaches and the raw natural beauty of its numerous gorges, impressive mountain ranges and breathtaking waterfalls.

Crete is not just the largest but also the most populous of the Greek islands, as well as the fifth-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. The island was the centre of the Minoan civilisation (c. 2,700 – 1,420 B.C.), widely considered the earliest recorded civilisation in Europe. The island has a rich mythology connected with the ancient Greek Gods, and is full of archaeological sites worth a visit, such as the Minoan sites of Knossos and Phaistos, the nearby Palace of Malia, dating back to the Middle Bronze Age, and the archaeological museum in Heraklion, home to the largest collection of Minoan art and artefacts anywhere in the world.

We are therefore pleased to announce that, at no extra cost to you, and in accordance with the “The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018” all passengers booking with Single Parents on Holiday Ltd. are fully insured for the initial deposit, and subsequently the balance of monies paid as detailed in your booking confirmation invoice. The policy will also include repatriation if required, arising from the cancellation or curtailment of your travel arrangements due to the insolvency of Single Parents on Holiday Ltd.
