Ziller Valley (Austria)

Our Programme:

Your SPoH host will organise and accompany our group of single parent families on a fun and action-packed 4-day family activity programme. Below is an outline of the programme planned for the week. The activities in the sample programme below are included in our price:

• Family nature trail to a farm with petting zoo
• Visit of a swimming lake surrounded by  meadows, with playground, football pitch and beach volleyball court
• Summer tobogganing and adventure playground
• Bird nature trail to the largest waterfall in the Ziller Valley

Optional at a surcharge:

• visit of the local thermal spa with its large outdoor pool and longest slides in the Ziller valley, wave pool, saltwater pool, and adventure pool as well as sun loungers, play area, trampoline, etc.
• day at the Rosenalm with tree castle, lake and boat hire and tree top bath
• day-trip to Hintertux Glacier

Things to do at the hotel:

Our hotel offers a weekly fitness programme for all hotel guests which may include yoga, Pilates and meditation. You can also use the hotel’s fitness room and large spa.

The Ziller Valley

The Ziller Valley is the largest valley in Austria, branching off the Inn Valley in Tirol, and follows the course of the River Ziller. It is surrounded by the glaciated Ziller Valley Alps to the south and east, the lower peaks of the Kitzbühel Alps to the east and the Tux Alps to the west.

In the 19th century, the Ziller Valley became well-known across Europe for its travelling tradesmen and singing families. The families of travelling singers and organ builders from the region are credited with having spread the Christmas carol Silent Night across the world in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Once dominated by the mining industry, the region gradually became dependent on tourism for its income from the middle of the 20th century onwards. The Ziller Valley attracts visitors from across Europe in the summer who want to hike, bike, climb or simply enjoy themselves against the backdrop of the magnificent mountain scenery.

We will be staying in the picturesque small town of Fügen in the Ziller Valley, approximately 25 miles from Tirol’s capital of Innsbruck. Fügen is home to shops and cafés, excellent restaurants offering traditional Tyrolean specialties, and an impressive thermal spa with a huge outdoor pool with slides, water cannons, wave machine and much more.
