Single parent ski holiday in the October half term

Start the ski season early and join us on a single parent ski holiday at the Hintertux Glacier, the only glacier in Austria which offers year-round skiing. The ski resort is snow sure and offers a range of long and beautiful pistes, ideal for family skiing. And the best part? You can start the ski season early rather than having to wait an entire year to get back on the slopes.

Your 4-star hotel:

We are excited to return to the wonderful 4-star ski and spa hotel Alpenbad Hotel Hohenhaus, in walking distance of the cable car station (or a mere three minutes by shuttle). We have reserved double and triple rooms with a balcony on a ‘Half Board Plus’ basis, including a lavish breakfast buffet, après-ski snack, and 5-course dinner. Our hotel’s facilities include an amazing panoramic pool and whirlpool with views of the glacier, a spa with 7 saunas, a first-class restaurant and bar, and a modern fitness room. In addition, there are plenty of entertainment options on offer for young and old, including 3-lane Olympic-sized trampolines, an indoor glow-in-the-dark Blacklight miniature golf course, a chipping and putting green, an indoor football hall, billiards, darts, arcade racing, and a kids’ playroom with pony and Bobbycar racetrack, a video game table, and a slide.

The ski region:

The ski resort offers 19 lifts and 64 km of well-prepared pistes up to an altitude of 3,250 m, as well as a range of other highlights, including an ‘ice palace’ atop the glacier and the Spannagel Cave, a fascinating natural monument and the largest natural stone cave in the Central Alps. Book by 30 June and save £100 per family on our regular prices, which are £1320 per adult and from £590 for the first child. The second child under 13 receives a 10% discount. Prices include ‘Half Board Plus’ in a double room, airport transfers, and the services of a SPoH tour leader, who will organise lift passes, ski hire, lessons, and ski with the intermediate and advanced skiers. Programme

Glacier skiing with kids in Hintertux

The Hintertux Glacier is the only ski resort in Austria where you can ski 365 days a year and one of only two resorts in the world open to skiers all year round. The slopes offer plenty of variety and challenge for everyone, with long and wide pistes and a freeride park ‘fun slope’ for kids and families. Due to the altitude of the ski region (3,250 m), excellent snow conditions are guaranteed. The resort offers 19 modern lifts and 64 km of well prepared pistes, with a range of blue, red and black runs for all levels of ability.

If you are a beginner or wish to improve your technique, you can book ski lessons at the local ski school. Everyone else can join their Single Parents on Holiday tour leader, who will ski with the intermediate and advanced skiers. They will also organise lift passes for our group of single parent families and take everyone to the ski/snowboard hire shop, where their pre-booked equipment will be waiting. Our hotel will provide a shuttle to the cable car station mornings and afternoons. Alternatively, you can walk to and from the hotel in 15 minutes. There are lockers and a ski hire shop at the cable car station, so you don’t have to worry about carrying ski gear back and forth.

Our hotel has an amazing spa, including several dry and wet saunas and a beautiful indoor pool with stunning views of the glacier to help you unwind after a day on the slopes. For anyone who still has energy, the hotel has a modern fitness room. There are also plenty of options to keep families entertained at the end of the day or if they need a break from skiing, with Olympic-sized trampolines, an indoor glow-in-the-dark Blacklight miniature golf course, a chipping and putting green, an indoor soccer-football hall, billiards, darts, an Arcade Racer, and a wonderful kids’ room with games, toys, and a slide.

We also highly recommend a visit of the ice palace at the top of the glacier and the impressive Panorama Terrace at 3,250 m, as well as a visit of the Spannagel cave, the largest stone cave in the Central Alps.

About Hintertux

The Hintertux Glacier:

Located on the edge of the famous Zillertal Valley in Tyrol, and close to the mighty Olperer Mountain standing at 3,476 m, Hintertux offers a great choice of pistes against a breathtakingly beautiful backdrop. It is part of the Zillertal Arena, one of Austria’s top snow sure resorts, and includes, amongst others, Mayrhofen and Hochzillertal-Hochfügen.

One of the main attractions of the Hintertux resort is its 12 km run from the Gefrorene Wand (“Frozen Wall”) all the way down to Hintertux. The three “glacier buses” – large cable cars taking you to the top of the glacier – are an experience in their own right. You will need to take all three of the glacier buses to reach the very top, where you can relax with a drink on the Panorama Terrace with its breathtaking views and visit the unique Ice Palace, home to magical ice stalactites, vast, sparkling ice crystals, frozen waterfalls and even a glacial lake. The views and the ice palace make this ski holiday a truly magical experience for both adults and children.

Another sight not to miss is the Spannagel Cave, a 13 km long rock cave system, where you can view the marble cave or book a cave trekking tour.

Book your own flights from any airport in the UK and Ireland. Your airport transfers from/to Innsbruck or Munich airport are included in our prices if you arrive/depart on the advertised holiday dates. Please note that for this single parent ski holiday, we will arrange your transfer by:

  • shuttle or taxi from INNSBRUCK AIRPORT shared with other single parent families from our group if these arrive within 90 minutes of your arrival, or
  • shuttle from MUNICH AIRPORT (not exclusive for our group) departing within 60 minutes of your arrival
