Set in a beautiful large park in the small village of Basaldella, our countryside mansion is a hidden gem away from the tourist masses and a great base for exploring the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. The following activities are included your solo holiday package:

• Day-trip to the famous city of Venice
• Visit of the charming village of Spilimbergo, including a visit of the world famous Mosaic School of Friuli
• Day-trip to the picturesque Lake Barcis in the Dolomite mountains
• Wine tasting and dinner at the Gelindo dei Magredi farm, an educational farm with farm animals and stables, famous in the region for its authentic Friulian cuisine and excellent wine selection.

In additionally, we can organize a day-trip to visit the famous Roman ruins in Aquileia, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the medieval coastal town of Grado, with its many canals and endless sandy beach in the gulf of Venice (not included in our price and subject to a local surcharge).

The Friuli Venezia Giulia region:

Our country mansion is located in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, home to the beautiful lagoon city of Venice and the region’s capital Trieste. Tucked away between the Alps to the north and the Adriatic Sea to the south, the Friuli Venezia Giulia is one of Italy’s last hidden treasures. The region is rich in history with age-old fairs and country festivals enlivening the Province throughout the year, allowing visitors to get a taste of the traditions, popular beliefs and sacred portrayals of the people of the area. There are countless cities and towns worth visiting, from Venice and Trieste, to Spilimbergo, Aquileia, Grado, and Udine.

Our village is set in the Magredi nature park in the province of Pordenone, at the foot of the beautiful Friulian Dolomites. The Magredi is a 300 km² large nature park characterised by vast meadowlands, wide, undisturbed spaces, and striking stones creating an exceptional environment. The  dry grasslands, known as “Magredi” were declared an Area of Special Protection by the European Union which is also famous for its vegetation and rare birds.

Part of the protected area is used for the cultivation of vines. The cool winds combined with the sunny weather and calcium-rich marlstone soils give the grapes their strong mineral notes resulting in the famous Magredi wines – beautifully crisp whites.
