Book your single parent ski holiday with a specialist company: Single Parents on Holiday have offered group holidays for single parents and their children in Austria since 2007, and this is our 10th ski trip for single parent families in Obertauern, the ski resort made famous by no other than the Beatles! This is one of our most popular ski holidays in Austria for single parents and, as usual, is hosted by our team members.

Your superior 4-star hotel:

For Easter 2025 we will stay at the superior 4-star Hotel Steiner at an altitude of 1,752 m. The hotel is directly opposite the slopes, offering a fantastic ski in/ski out experience, as well as all the facilities you could possibly wish for on a single parent ski holiday, incl. free childcare from the age of 3 and a kitchen that offers an amazing all-inclusive culinary experience. A new (adult only) rooftop pool,  impressive spa, heated indoor  family pool, whirlpool, saunas, and a family zone offer every imaginable opportunity for parents to relax. The new kids club room, giant marble run, indoor forest playground, karaoke/cinema room, and the activity lounge with Nintendo Wii, table football, table tennis, billiard table, and large game pad will keep youngsters of all ages entertained.

Obertauern boasts some of the most reliable snow conditions in the Alps. Slopes reaching an altitude of 2,313 m, make Obertauern the perfect base for Easter skiing. Both skiers and snowboarders will feel at home here with a huge choice of blue, red and black runs, a snow park and the second steepest run in Austria. Our prices:

£1450 per adult and from £1050 for the first child. Second children under 16 receive a 10% discount. Included in this price is full-board, transfers from/to Salzburg airport, childcare from the age of 3 and services of our team member(s), who will organise lift passes, ski hire, and ski lessons and offer company on and off the slopes. Programme

Easter skiing with kids in Obertauern:

With slopes ranging in altitude between 1,630 and 2,313 m, Obertauern guarantees great Easter skiing conditions until May. The region is popular with both skiers and snowboarders alike: Its 26 lifts provide access to over 100 kilometres of blue, red and black runs, as well as a snow park. For thrill-seekers, the piste alongside the Gamsleiten 2 lift is the second steepest run in Austria. The fast and efficient lift system, wide prepared pistes, and amazing deep-snow skiing all add to Obertauern’s appeal at Easter. The lifts are so cleverly laid out in a circle around the village, in fact, that our single parent families can ski the so-called ‘Tauern circuit’ and never be more than a few minutes from their hotel.

Other activities on offer at Easter:

Obertauern also offers countless hiking trails, letting you enjoy the beautiful winter landscape. If you fancy trying something new on your single parent ski holiday, why not join a snowshoe hike with a tour guide, or try snowbiking, an exciting yet safe new adventure? It’s easy for anyone to learn, and really cool. You can also hire toboggans at every sports shop in Obertauern.

After an active day of skiing, our single parent families will appreciate the hotel’s large indoor pool, family sauna and whirlpool, as well as the adult only rooftop pool and spa with steam room, range of saunas, quartz grotto, tepidarium, water beds and relaxation area with panoramic views of the surrounding Tauern mountains. The little ones can enjoy themselves in the hotel’s new kids club, complete with climbing equipment, slide, bobby cars, play kitchen, toys, and games whilst older children can chill out in the activity room with table tennis, game consoles, air hockey, Nintendo Wii, and much more.

Be sure to save some energy for the floodlit night skiing and night tobogganing – both fun and memorable experiences for kids and parents alike, or  an evening at one of Obertauern’s many famous après ski bars. For those parents who feel more like relaxing in front of the fireplace after their 5-course gourmet dinner, the hotel bar is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine and good company.

About Obertauern

The resort and village of Obertauern in Austria:

Obertauern’s history dates back to the Celts (who inhabited the area from the 4th to the 1st centuries B.C.), and the Romans, who used the Tauern Pass to reach Salzburg. The Radstädter Tauern were first mentioned in 1207. The first skiers were recorded here in 1902, and the first lifts built in the ‘50s and ‘60s.

Today Obertauern is a popular ski region in the southeast of the county Salzburg, in the Radstädter Tauern mountains. The highest slope is at 2,213 m ensuring snow safe skiing until the end of April.  You can ski the famous Tauern Circuit around the village clockwise or anti-clockwise on a mix of red and blue runs, and you are never far from the village. The village itself is located high on the sunny side of the mountain, at 1,741 m.

In 1965, Obertauern had a brush with fame when the Beatles filmed ‘Help’ here, evident in the many tributes and memorabilia in and around the village. Obertauern offers lively, unobtrusive après-ski. Two legendary après ski huts are the Edelweißalm at 1,850 m, with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain world, and the rustic Lürzer Alm in the centre of town famous for its après-ski parties.

"We had a brilliant holiday in Obertauern . The resort is great for early intermediate skiers, with lots of easy runs that take you round the whole valley. We had fantastic sunshine on most days (Easter hols) so the snow was slushy and hard to ski in the afternoon but we were both very glad to hang out and relax in the hotel. Hotel Steiner is superb with fantastic luxury facilities and food and friendly helpful staff. There was opportunity to do things as part of the group, but no pressure to do so. "What an amazing week! This was our first SPOH holiday and indeed group ski holiday, and the quality of hotel, arrangements and the people we got to know was fantastic. Many friendships formed. The holiday is well hosted with 3 people on hand to help. Skiing with two young children, whilst always a little stressful initially, is made a lot easier in a group, and the hotel is perfectly set up with kindergarten and playrooms allowing for actual relaxation après ski. "Our 3rd holiday with SPOH & what a holiday! The hotel far exceeded any expectations, we were looked after from start to finish. Even though now back home, we are still smiling; It's not often you call a skiing holiday relaxing but this one was. My daughter made firm friends, the ski school very friendly and approachable, the hotel staff didn't bat an eyelid about the kids and usual kid behaviour. Our group, although small was very friendly and everyone approachable. Daniella was her usual lovely self who couldn't do enough to accommodate all our individual requests.. even resulting in her taking my daughter to try the local foods that she now loves (but apparently hated!). I can't compliment the hotel enough and loved be able to ski back for lunch everyday. We will be booking a 4th..."

Prices listed are for standard rooms. Superior rooms, which are more modern and often larger, are available for an extra charge of £100 for the week per room.

Your airport transfers from/to SALZBURG AIRPORT are included in our prices if you arrive/depart on the advertised holiday dates. Please note that you will share your airport transfers with other single parent families from our group if these arrive within approx. 90 minutes of your arrival.

We are therefore pleased to announce that, at no extra cost to you, and in accordance with the “The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018” all passengers booking with Single Parents on Holiday Ltd. are fully insured for the initial deposit, and subsequently the balance of monies paid as detailed in your booking confirmation invoice. The policy will also include repatriation if required, arising from the cancellation or curtailment of your travel arrangements due to the insolvency of Single Parents on Holiday Ltd.
