Join us on a single parent beach holiday in Crete, hosted by one of Single Parents on Holiday’s tour leaders.

Our 5-star hotel:

We are excited to return to the recently renovated and modernised 5-star Alexander Beach Hotel & Village Resort, which amongst others has won TripAdvisor’s prestigious Travellers Choice 2025 award. Located in the village of Stalis, 32 km east of the island’s capital Heraklion, our family-friendly hotel is a green oasis offering breathtaking views over the bay of Malia. Our hotel has beautiful low-rise buildings and bungalows set in lush, subtropical gardens and a private sandy 750 m long beach, where our families can enjoy swimming and water sports in the clear blue waters of the Aegean Sea. The hotel’s facilities now include an Italian restaurant, a Grill Restaurant on the beach, a Greek taverna, several pools including an infinity pool and kids pool with slides, a spa, fitness room, tennis and multi sports courts, games room, and a mini club.

Things to do in Crete:

For those who want to see more of Crete, there are plenty of trips on offer, such as a visit of the ancient site of Knossos, the Samaria Gorge, the water park, and a boat trip to the famous island of Spinalonga. For more details, please go to our programme.

Our prices:

Programme

Kids facilities and kids club:

Our hotel has a Mini Club for 4 to 12 year olds with organised play, craft making, and other activities such as trips on the banana boat, treasure hunts, kids shows, mini disco, and much more. There is also a playground and a kids adventure pool with water games and chutes at the kids club to keep younger children entertained. There is also a games room with video games as well as table tennis, pool tables and, of course, the daily sports and animation programme including beach volleyball, basketball, mini soccer, and water polo.

The spa and fitness room:

The hotel also has a modern, air conditioned fitness room and a Mediterranean spa area with a heated indoor pool, whirlpools, Finnish sauna, steam bath, and oriental Rasul & Hammam across an area of more than 1000 m². Spa entry is free, whilst massages and treatments can be booked at an extra charge.

The beach and water sports:

The hotel is located directly on a private 750 m long sandy “Blue Flag” beach with free sun loungers and parasols, with two beach bars and a “Beach Club” restaurant just steps away. There is also a water sports centre, where you can book  parasailing, banana boats, pedalos, and more.

Local excursions:

Your Single Parents on Holiday tour leader will be on hand if you wish to see more of Crete, such as the world -famous Samaria Gorge in the South of the island or a visit of the ruins of the palace of Knossos built by King Minos. Knossos once presided over a city of 100,000 and flourished between 3,000 and 1,400 BC. We also recommend a boat trip to Spinalonga island with its massive fortifications, which date back five centuries to the Venetian occupation. Also worth a visit is Water City, Crete’s biggest water park.

About Crete

Crete, the island:

Crete is the largest and most diverse of the Greek islands combining snow-capped mountains, rolling hills covered with olive trees and over 1,000 km of stunning coastline. The island offers a mix of small fishing villages, remote settlements, large tourist resorts and cities such as Heraklion, which  has been inhabited continuously for almost 8,000 years. Today it is home to trendy cafés, bars, shops, as well as a vast array of archaeological treasures. Crete attracts holiday makers from all over Europe due to its rich history, pleasant Mediterranean climate, long sandy beaches, and the raw natural beauty of its numerous gorges, impressive mountain ranges, and breathtaking waterfalls.

Crete – the history:

Crete was the centre of the Minoan civilisation (c. 2,700 – 1,420 B.C.), widely considered the earliest recorded civilisation in Europe. The island has a rich mythology connected with the ancient Greek Gods, and is full of archaeological sites worth a visit, such as the Minoan sites of Knossos and Phaistos and the archaeological museum in Heraklion, home to the largest collection of Minoan art and artefacts anywhere in the world.

Airport transfers:

Your airport transfers are included in your holiday price if you arrive/depart on our advertised holiday dates: On this holiday, this means, you will be picked up from Heraklion Airport by taxi and taken directly to your hotel where your tour leader will welcome you. Your return transfer is also included in our price. Please note that you might share your airport transfers with other single parent families in our group (short waiting times might apply). Our hotel is only 30 km away from the airport.

We are therefore pleased to confirm to you that, in accordance with our obligations under The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 No.684, we have purchased Travel Regulation Insolvency Protection Insurance in our name for your benefit.

This insurance policy has been arranged by Towergate Travel with AXA Insurance UK plc (the insurer). Please contact us if you require a copy of the policy wording.
