We also recommend a trip to Sotavento Lagoon, a stunning beach at high tide, a boat trip for a chance to see dolphins, whales, sea turtles, and other marine mammals, a pirate cruise where the kids can learn to hoist the sails and play captain’s games, or a Catamaran experience with the option to sunbathe, swim, snorkel, kayak and stand-up paddleboard. You could also book a Segway tour or visit Jandía Natural Park – there is plenty to do on the peninsula alone!

This holiday is offered on an all-inclusive basis with breakfast, lunch and dinner served at the hotel’s buffet restaurant. The hotel also has a tapas bar, which is open for dinner on most evenings, and a pool bar, which serves lunch, as well as snacks and drinks throughout the day. After dinner,  our single parents can chill out at the cocktail bar overlooking the sea or enjoy the evening entertainment programme including shows, live music and a kiddie disco.

The island – Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canary Islands, which are part of Spain, and is only 60 miles from the coast of Morocco. It is a volcanic island and famous for its enormous sand dunes, endless sandy beaches and perfect conditions for a wide variety of water sports, such as surfing, wind surfing and catamaran sailing. Apart from some of the most impressive beaches in Europe, Fuerteventura enjoys a sunny dry climate all year round. The weather in April is mild and sunny, perfect for sightseeing and relaxing on the beach.

The peninsula – Jandía

Jandía is the name given to a resort at the southern tip of Fuerteventura, near the small picturesque fishing village of Morro Jable, which features the best beach on Fuerteventura. At one time the peninsula of Jandía was an island off the coast of Fuerteventura but huge sand deposits eventually linked the two landmasses resulting in one of the longest, and some would say the best beaches in the world. The fine sandy beach and turquoise waters stretch for 13 miles against a stunning backdrop of vast mountains and blue skies. With crystal clear seas and benefiting from refreshing Atlantic breezes, this is a splendid place for sun-seekers and water sports enthusiasts and known as the Canaries’ beach and water sports paradise. The centre of Jandía with its bars and shops is just up the road and great for an evening stroll.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our first holiday with SPOH. My children made friends quickly and it was lovely to have other parents to chat to. The hotel, food + beach were great too. Jane was a friendly and helpful host. Thank-you for a lovely holiday!"
- Kathryn, Thomas (9) & Henry (6) - single parent beach holiday Fuerteventura, August 2024

- Rebecca and son - Fuerteventura, April 2022
"This was my first trip with SPOH and I wasn't sure what to expect. It was a great opportunity to meet some lovely parents and their fantastic kids. The hotel was in a good location and I managed to have the relaxing break I needed. I will go on a SPOH again."
- Suzette, Maya (15) and Lillian (14) - Fuerteventura, April 2022
"Our first holiday with the SPOH group - just brilliant - the friendliness, support and togetherness and general banter and fun was priceless. "
- Taoheed & Safiya (10) - Fuerteventura in May 2017
"Thank you for such an enjoyable holiday. We felt the whole experience was a positive one. The holiday would not have been as pleasant and relaxing without your input."
- Patricia, Jordan (18) & Reuben (11) (Fuerteventura, August 2014)
"This was my first time on a single parent holiday, so it was with some trepidation that I approached the holiday. I needn’t have worried. Within 2 hours of arriving my daughter had bonded with the other children. She had a wonderful time, which meant I could then relax and enjoy myself. It was a great group of people and we all got on well. Sometimes we would do things together, at other times people would do their own thing. The rep was superb and did a great job ensuring everyone was having a good time. We also hired bicycles and had a parents v kids football match (a very diplomatic draw ). I would definitely recommend the holiday."
- Phil & Celine (12) (Fuerteventura, August 2013)
"Our holiday on Fuerteventura was really great because of how un commercialised it is as an island and because of the fabulous beaches. It was a little hideaway that we came to love. The group was such fun and our guide became a part of our fun."
- Laura & Daniel (10) (Fuerteventura, August 2013)
"The hotel was in an excellent location, and provided consistently good food and quality facilities. The range of inclusive snacks and drinks was excellent; and Sandra’s organisation and attentiveness was, as always, first rate."
- Paul, Alice (13) & Daisy (11) (Fuerteventura, August 2012)
"Once again we have all enjoyed a superb holiday with SPOH (our 4th) – Sandra is the perfect host and makes everyone feel welcome and included – takes the strain (organisation wise) off the single parents and is great company. Fantastic hotel and location with a range of activities to suit all – highly recommended."
- Jenny, Adam (16) & Sam (14) (Fuerteventura, August 2012)
"Brilliantly organised holiday – great hotel, lovely location and great people. All inclusive was an added bonus. Was lovely to be able to enjoy adult company whenever you wanted especially evenings and the kids all enjoyed having the built in friends to play with. All in all a really relaxing holiday. Would definitely recommend."
- Catherine, Joe (15), Harry (12) & Tilly (6) (Fuerteventura, August 2012)
