Join us in the scenic Dolomites, an amazing UNESCO World Heritage Site in the South Tyrol region. Our hotel, the Passo Pinei, is a high-quality 4-star hotel with spectacular views of the area, particularly from the aptly-named Panorama Bar and Terrace. The hotel offers modern comfort combined with traditional charm, letting you experience South Tyrol’s outstanding hospitality in newly-renovated lounge areas and a restaurant offering both South Tyrolean and Italian cuisine and wine. Spacious and comfortable rooms with hairdryer, fridge, safe deposit box, flat screen TV, telephone, ensuite bathroom with shower or bath and often a balcony or patio. The hotel also has an indoor pool and spa area where you can relax with the children after your day out on the slopes. There is a large kids’ room with toys and TV as well as a football table and table tennis to keep children of all ages occupied in the evening.

Situated in a uniquely picturesque location between the towns of Castelrotto and Ortisei, our hotel is within easy reach of a number of different ski areas throughout the Dolomites ski region. Here you will find the largest ski carousel in the world, connecting over 1,200 slopes and offering endless opportunities for skiers of all abilities.

Programme

Skiing/Snowboarding: Val Gardena, at the heart of the Dolomites, is part of the largest connected skiing area in the world. With over 110 miles of slopes to choose from in Val Gardena alone, there is something here for every ability level. The hotel’s free ski shuttle will take you directly to the lifts in Ortisei, which are a mere 10 minutes away. From there you can access several ski areas: beginners and intermediate skiers can take the big gondola up to the sunny bowl of Alpe di Siusi, also known as Seiser Alm, with its scenic blue runs, while more advanced skiers can use the two gondolas up the northern side of Ortisei to the skiing area above Santa Cristina and Selva Gardena, with its wide choice of blue, red and black runs.

Other activities on offer: The hotel has its own ice rink, so guests can enjoy skating and curling, even taking part in a weekly curling tournament. Those happier to spectate have the option to watch the event whilst enjoying mulled wine by the camp fire. Ortisei also offers horse-drawn sleigh rides and a thrilling 4-mile toboggan run which is great fun but not for the faint hearted! If you prefer cross country skiing, Ortisei also has a huge amount to offer: The resorts of Alpe di Siusi, Vallunga, Selva Gardena and Monte Pana offer more than 70 miles of cross country trails. If you prefer to enjoy the beautiful winter landscape, then you can try a walk on snowshoes with a tour guide, who will lead you through a seemingly endless series of untouched Alpine spaces.

About Val Gardena

The Dolomites were originally named after geologist Déodat de Dolomieu. The region’s unique beauty was recognised by UNESCO in 2009, when it designated them a World Natural Heritage Site. The inhabitants are fiercely proud of their dramatic ‘pale mountains’ and not merely since they achieved this global status: The South Tyrol region has long been characterised by its distinctive light-coloured rocks, and is a region of fascinating contrasts.

The Dolomites are commonly divided into the Western Dolomites and the Eastern Dolomites, separated by the Gardena Valley, or Val Gardena. Ortisei, also known as St. Ulrich, is the principal village of Val Gardena. Its charming village centre is full of pastel-coloured buildings, boutiques, cafés and restaurants. With its ancient mercantile tradition and rich history, the village blends in harmoniously in with the landscape. The centre and pedestrian zone are worth visiting for an afternoon stroll, tea and shopping.

The Passo Pinei, also known as Panider Sattel, is an Alpine pass 3 miles from both Ortisei and Castelrotto. Situated at an altitude of 1,440 metres above sea level, it offers spectacular views of the Gardena Valley and the surrounding Dolomites. It is a quiet and romantic place, ideal for unwinding and enjoying the beautiful scenery.
