Single parent farm holiday near Venice in Italy

Our farm trip to Italy is a group holiday exclusively for single mums and dads and their kids, and hosted by one of Single Parents on Holiday’s team members: We are staying at the ever-popular Gelindo dei Magredi, a family run educational farm, for the 15th year in succession. Our farm is the perfect place for our single parents and their children to get to know the Italian way of life in a wonderful rural setting.

Accommodation:

Our working farm offers comfortable accommodation in air-conditioned rooms with ensuite bathroom, TV, hairdryer, and fridge. The rooms are located in four farmhouses, either facing the gardens or the lovely sun terrace and good sized swimming pool. There is also a patio adjacent to the restaurant where you can have lunch or enjoy homemade cakes and ice cream in the afternoon and a glass of wine in the evening. The restaurant in the main building has a dedicated area for our group and will serve specialities from the Friuli region, with fresh fruit and vegetables that are grown on the farm.

Our programme:

We will offer a fun farm programme, which will include activities at the farm, such as pasta or pizza making, wine and food tasting, pony games, etc., and day trips to Venice and either Lake Barcis or Spilimbergo. For more information, please go to our programme.

Our prices:

Adults are tbc, children under 12 are tbc and second children under 12 are tbc. For more details go to prices. Included are half board accommodation, airport taxi transfers from/to Venice Marco Polo, welcome drinks, and all activities in our farm programme.

Programme

Our programme:

The Magredi is a huge nature park close to Pordenone at the foot of the beautiful Friulian Dolomites in northern Italy and a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site and the perfect place for kids to learn about farm life and meet animals. We will offer 8 fun activities over the course of the week (included in your package). These may include any of the following:

  • horse-drawn carriage/tractor tour around the farm
  • mosaic making
  • introduction to bees/honey making
  • pizza making
  • fun pony games
  • Italian pasta making
  • potato harvest & making chips
  • biscuit baking
  • wine and food tasting for the parents
  • pizza night
  • BBQ night

The classes in our programme will be run by the farm staff or local teachers and take place at the farm. Our single parents can either join and have fun with the kids or, if their kids are old enough not to require supervision, simply relax by the pool knowing that the children are nearby and having a great time! Note that the farm has stables with many horses and ponies available for horse riding lessons (at a surcharge).

About Magredi

The Friuli-Venezia Giulia region:

Our country resort is located in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, home to the wonderful cities of Venice and Trieste, capital of the region. Friuli-Venezia Giulia is Italy’s most northeastern region. It borders Austria to the north and Slovenia to the east. To the south, it faces the Adriatic Sea. The Magredi is a 300 km² nature park in the province of Pordenone, at the foot of the beautiful Friulian Dolomites. Its landscape is characterised by vast meadowlands, wide, undisturbed spaces, and striking stones creating an exceptional environment. The Magredi steppes were declared an Area of Special Protection by the European Union.

Part of the protected area is used for the cultivation of vines which gives the region the famous Magredi wines. The area is also famous for its vegetation and rare birds. On our 30-hectare ‘educational farm’ you will find endless fields where a variety of fruit and vegetables are grown, a pond, farm animals such as rabbits, cows, pigs, chickens and donkeys, as well as stables with more than 40 horses and an indoor and outdoor riding ring.

The area is rich in history, with age-old fairs and country festivals enlivening the province throughout the year, allowing visitors to get a taste of the traditions, popular beliefs and sacred portrayals of the people of the area.

Our Financial Protection Insurance

We, Single Parents on Holidays Limited, are committed to customer satisfaction and consumer financial protection. We are therefore pleased to confirm to you that, in accordance with our obligations under The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 No.684, we have purchased Travel Regulation Insolvency Protection Insurance in our name for your benefit. All passengers booking with Single Parents on Holiday Ltd. are fully insured for the initial deposit, and subsequently the balance of monies paid as detailed in your booking confirmation invoice. The policy will also include repatriation/continuation if required, arising from the cancellation or curtailment of your travel/accommodation arrangements due to the insolvency of Single Parents on Holiday Ltd.

This insurance policy has been arranged by Everywhen with AXA Insurance UK plc (the insurer). Please contact us if you require a copy of the policy wording.
