Single Parent Break in North Wales

North Wales is a fabulous destination for a single parent holiday: Unspoilt coastline, long beaches, medieval castles, and beautiful gardens are just some of the attractions that will appeal to both parents and children. Join us on a break on the beautiful Llyn Peninsula, hosted by one of Single Parents on Holiday’s team members and enjoy a fun-packed activity programme exclusively for our single parent families.

Accommodation:

We will be staying at a tranquil and peaceful site overlooking Caernafon Bay, on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. The site is particularly safe for kids, with its rural location away from the main road. The 9 stone cottages maintain the tradition and charm of the original farm buildings and offer outstanding views in all directions. Some of the cottages are for sharing between two or three families, others are for private use. There is also a play area with climbing frames and swings, a residents’ bar and lounge and a DVD library in a telephone box.

Our Programme:

Your Single Parents on Holiday host will help you make the most of your stay by organising some local walks and days out. Some of the activities we suggest for the week of your stay are a visit of Caernarfon Castle, a trip on the Welsh Highland Railway through Snowdonia with a visit of Beddgelert village, a day on the beach, and a visit of Glasfryn Parc, an all-weather aqua activity centre. Our Prices:

Adults are £390 and first children £350, second children are £105 (6-13 August 2021). Adults are £470 and first children £420, second children are £252 (29 July to 5 August 2022). Programme

Our Programme:

Your SPoH host will organise several activities and excursions for our single parent families. We understand that some families may want to do their own thing, so feel free to join or explore on your own, as you wish. Below is a sample programme planned for your stay. This is just an outline, which may change depending on weather, COVID restrictions, etc.:

  • Visit of Caernarfon castle, the imposing fortress-palace on the banks of the River Seiont, followed by pub dinner.
  • Take the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway through Snowdonia national park: The train climbs over 650 ft and leads along the foothills of Snowdon before zigzagging down to Beddgelert village where you can have lunch or go for a scenic river walk before heading back.
  • Craig Y Fron, Y Bala: Easy family walk with lots to see for the kids along the way. Pick up fish and chips for dinner.
  • Glasfryn Parc with go-karting, archery, crazy golf, soft play and water sports such as kayaking, cable wake-boarding, stand up paddle and aqua play assault courses. Campfire with marshmallow roasting on last evening.
  • Visit of the “Italian village” of Portmeirion
  • Visit of Nefyn Beach with optional paddle-boarding or surfing lessons

About Llyn Peninsula

North Wales and the Llyn Peninsula

North Wales is famous for its castles and coastline, which has some of the most beautiful beaches in the UK. Clean and safe, sandy and pebbly, its many beaches are ideal for swimming, fishing and water sports. One of its most famous castles, Caernarfon, a World Heritage Site, is only 10 miles from where we are staying.

A visit of North Wales is not complete without a trip to its national park: Snowdonia covers over 800 square miles of diverse landscape, including Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in England and Wales, not to forget the largest natural lake in Wales and numerous pretty villages. Around 26,000 people live and work in Snowdonia, half of them speaking Welsh. The park offers an abundance of things to do for families, including lots of different adventure activities, several narrow gauge railways and a farm park, which will delight younger visitors.

The Llyn Peninsula

The Llyn Peninsula lies south-west of the Isle of Anglesey and is a 30 mile stretch of land, known as ‘Snowdon’s arm’. It has stunning sandy beaches, intriguing wildlife and is steeped in Welsh history. It comes as no surprise that its coast is a protected Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Our site enjoys panoramic views of Caernarfon Bay, Anglesey, Holy Island and the imposing Three Rivals mountain range. You can walk to the private beach down a sheltered green valley with a babbling brook. The beach is mostly rock and shingles with sandy patches and is safe for bathing and fishing. Don’t miss the stunning sunsets in the early evening from the front paddock or the sea.

As most of our single parent families will arrive by car from the UK, we will not be organising airport or train transfers to our holiday cottages. Should you require help with booking a transfer from a local airport or train station, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to assist!

We are therefore pleased to announce that, at no extra cost to you, and in accordance with the “The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018” all passengers booking with Single Parents on Holiday Ltd. are fully insured for the initial deposit, and subsequently the balance of monies paid as detailed in your booking confirmation invoice. The policy will also include repatriation if required, arising from the cancellation or curtailment of your travel arrangements due to the insolvency of Single Parents on Holiday Ltd.
