Discover the stunning beauty of Montenegro with other solo travellers and soak up the autumn sun at our wonderful 4-star beach hotel in the Bay of Kotor. This solo holiday is ideal for travellers in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s who are keen to explore this stunning small country on the Adriatic Sea. One of our tour leaders will stay with our group at the hotel and organize a range of excursions.

Accommodation:

Our 4-star hotel Iberostar Herceg Novi has yet again been awarded Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice in 2022. We have reserved double rooms with balcony or terrace for single occupancy for our group. Our hotel is located at the start of the famous Bay of Kotor, a beautiful Unesco heritage site with jaw-dropping scenery, well-preserved medieval towns, and numerous Orthodox and Catholic churches and monasteries. Surrounded by idyllic forested mountains, our hotel is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic Sea, the quiet beaches, and authentic Balkan food. The hotel has direct access to a long quiet beach and a lovely rooftop pool providing spectacular views of the Bay of Kotor. Other facilities include a rooftop bar, a fitness room, and a mini spa.

Things to do in Montenegro:

There is so much to discover in Montenegro, from stunning coastline to majestic canyons and lakes – there is no shortage of beautiful places here. Included in our price are a boat trip to the famous Blue Cave, a boat trip around the Bay of Kotor and a visit of the pretty old town of Herceg Novi, a Unesco World Heritage Site. We can further organise a visit of the old town of Dubrovnik in Croatia, a day trip to Lake Skadar, and a day trip to the famous canyons inland. For more details, please go to our programme.

Programme

Things to do on this solo holiday:

Our hotel Iberostar Herceg Novi idyllically located, away from the tourist masses and a great base for exploring Montenegro. Your tour leader will accompany our solo group on all excursions. The following excursions are planned for your stay and included in your holiday package:

  • Bay of Kotor boat trip with a visit of the medieval coastal villages of Perast and Kotor and the Lady of the Rock island with its breathtaking views
  • a boat trip to the famous Blue Cave, the largest and most stunning sea cave in the region
  • a visit of the picturesque town of Herceg Novi, with its beach promenade, monastery, and medieval town centre

Your tour leader can also organise other trips (at a local charge) such as a visit of the old Croatian town of Dubrovnik, a day trip to Lake Skadar, and a day trip to Montenegro’s famous canyons, the largest canyons in Europe.

Hotel facilities and sports programme:

Our hotel has a large pool on the rooftop providing panoramic views across the sea, and a long stretch of private beach with sun loungers. Its restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner with breathtaking views, whilst the beach bar is open all day for lunch and refreshments. There is also a rooftop bar for pre-dinner drinks and a fitness room and small spa. The daily sports programme offers a range of aqua aerobics, spinning and fitness classes. In the evenings, we can enjoy a variety of shows, live music and an impressive folklore show. Additionally you can hire kayaks, SUPs or pedalos at our hotel to explore the stunning coast line.

About Bay of Kotor

Montenegro:

Montenegro, meaning “Black Mountain”, is a small country in the Southwest Balkans bordering the Adriatic Sea. It is best known for its medieval towns and villages and its beautiful coastline stretching for almost 300 kilometres, scattered with 117 beaches. Yet an ironically lesser known fact is, that 90% of Montenegro is, in fact, mountains, and truly spectacular ones at that: majestic rugged mountains, mostly covered in thick forest where wild brown bears, wolves and red deer still roam. Montenegro borders Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Kosovo and Albania. Its capital and largest city is Podgorica.

The town of Herceg Novi and our hotel:

Founded in 1382 as a fortress and situated at the bottom of the highest mountain in the Dinaric Alps, Mount Orjen, Herceg Novi has over the centuries been ruled by the Ottoman Empire, Spain and Venice, as well as more recently by Russia, France and Austria. The town of Herceg Novi is situated between Mountain Orjen (1,895 m) and one of the most beautiful bays in the world – the Bay of Kotor. The old town with its pretty winding cobbled streets and the famous clock tower and the monastery of Salvina on a hillside outside the city centre are an absolute must-see for visitors to the area.

Our hotel is a short boat trip away from Herceg Novi, at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor. It enjoys a prime location along a quiet sandy beach, surrounded by lush, green forests and mountains on one side and the crystal-clear blue sea on the other.

Please book your own flight from any airport in the UK and Ireland. Please note that there are flights with Easyjet, Jet2, and BA from London, Easyjet from Bristol and Jet2 from Leeds, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Newcastle to/from Dubrovnik on 1 and 8 October.

Airport transfer (included):

For this solo holiday, we will arrange your  taxi transfer from/to DUBROVNIK AIRPORT and take you straight to your hotel where your tour leader will welcome you. Your transfer is included in our price if you arrive/depart on the advertised holiday dates. Please note that you will share your airport transfers with other solo travellers in our group (short waiting times might apply!).

The policy will also include repatriation if required, arising from the cancellation or curtailment of your travel arrangements due to the insolvency of Single Parents on Holiday Ltd.
